custom ak5 + ak5c

I came across those two builds a while ago and I'm really amazed at the amount of work that when into building these.
Great to have you present them to us in person!

One thing I've been wondering about though is what kind of paint job is done to the real steel AK5s. The finish seems pretty glossy, as if varnished.
Do you know if a special method is used?

As your question was in english I hope it's ok with everyone that I answer in english?
The orginal coating is made of something called "två komponents färg" in swedish and two-component paint in english. As such it's a kind of chemical reactive paint and not an finish like bluing or anodizing.

The paint does tend to fade with time and get worn off, as such there's a can called "bättringsfärg" and is a official spray paint from the army to better your colour on the weapon. The info on the can is:

mörkgrön

On the back of the can:

This is the colour people that are building ak5 useally uses, you can not buy it civilian but these are seen as expendeable material and it's semi-ok for soldiers to bring them home when it's only little left = it makes it's way out on the market anyway (from time to time).

My two rifles are painted in the original two-component paint though!

Thanks for the detailed information 5224. Hopefully this will give everyone a little bit of exercise in English.
My airsoft AK5 is in dire need a new coat of paint and I was hoping I could get as close as possible as the real thing but like anything from the Swedish Army it ain't that simple!

Hopefully I can one day put my hands on one of those cans...
Actually, which is the dominant colour, "mörkgrön" or "olivgrön"? I remember taking a close look at the AK5 on display at the Army Museum in Stockholm and I seem to remember it was much more olive green in colour.

But I don't think that's completely accurate.

"Mörkgrön" is used for ak5 and "olivgrön" is used for our vehicles (this colour is also IR proof, the ak5 colour is not), as such none of the "olivgrön" should be on the rifle. Though this happens quite often anyway, as people don't look that closley at the can/don't care what colour they use. This is why you can see ak5 with diferent shades sometimes.

I've got an guy that have this colour now, 2 cans of each (2 of olivgrön and two of mörkgrön), he is selling them quite expesive: 400 SEK/47 Euro per can. But if anyone is intrested, please let me know!
